Situated in a central position near the waterfront, Pensao Residencial Mirasol is a cosy and traditional guest house offering basic but comfortable accommodation. The 13 guest rooms are simply furnished, but have everything you’ll need for a good night’s sleep. Each features en-suite bathroom, TV with cable channels and telephone. Most rooms also have a private balcony. There is a cosy reading lounge where guests are welcome to relax with a book, or meet and socialise with other travellers. The hosts are on hand to provide advice and recommendations where required. A basic continental breakfast is available every morning. The centre of Funchal is nearby, and the hosts will be happy to offer good local dining recommendations for the other two meals. The heart of Funchal and its marina are about 14 minutes away on foot. The incredible cliffs near Cabo Girao are just nine miles to the west.
It was hard not to notice that the friendly owners were willing to go above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable. A large number of guests commented on the generous hospitality that they found at Pensão Residencial Mirasol Funchal. The owners were willing to do everything from helping visitors to secure parking, to renting a car, all while being great hosts overall.
Guests were happy with their decision to stay here, based on the amazing location. The centre of the old town, cable car and bus stops, as well as the sea front were very easily accessed on foot, and guests would stay again for the convenient location.
This hotel is housed in a traditional older building with plenty of charm. Guests liked this about their stay, and appreciated the character that rooms and common areas provided.
Guests had a few grievances which were mainly regarding the state of accommodation. Hard, uncomfortable beds might have been in need of replacement, and several guests said that certain rooms were small and dark with dated decor. A kettle was also noticeably absent for some.
Rooms located at the front of the building were sometimes subjected to street noise. A few guests were unhappy with the unnecessary interruption to their otherwise pleasant stay.
While many guests found breakfast to be adequate, others wanted more variety. It was described as a bit sparse by some standards, and if you are looking for hefty portions, you might not find it here.
