Positive Reviews

positive:

Ideal location for nature and animal lovers.

The hotel is nestled in the Suffolk countryside and is surrounded by 7 acres of private grounds offering peace and tranquillity as well as a very picturesque backdrop. Many were pleased to find that this is a dog friendly hotel and enjoyed taking their pets for leisurely walks along the numerous nearby nature trails.

positive:

Full of history and old-world charm.

Guests appreciated the authentic country house feel of the hotel as well as the numerous original period features. Many said that they felt like they had stepped back in time and thoroughly enjoyed finding out about the building's rich historical past. If you prefer old-world charm opposed to ultra-modern dwellings then you certainly won't be disappointed.

positive:

Well-appointed and comfortable communal areas.

Guests enjoyed spending their free time in the comfortable lounge especially during cooler weather when the open fires are lit. The bar also proved popular with many who said that it was tastefully decorated and had plenty of comfortable seating areas.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Noise issues.

Some guests mentioned that the soundproofing in the rooms was rather poor as they were disturbed by the footsteps of the occupants above them. Those whose rooms were located close to the function suite said that they could hear music and noise at times when parties were being held  there.

negative:

Rooms on the small side.

The rooms in the newer part of the building were described as being quite small with some guests stating that they had little space to move around in between the furniture and also said that the bathrooms felt rather cramped.

negative:

Slow service at breakfast.

Too few staff at breakfast  meant that guests had to wait longer than expected to place their orders as well as to receive their cooked  meals.
