While this is not a self-catering property, guests still seemed to find the presence of a good supermarket virtually across the road very convenient. They found that they could buy snacks and all sorts of odds and ends there, avoiding the long trek into town.

It didn't seem to matter which meal was being discussed, all the food coming out of the kitchens was said to be top quality. It was very hard to find any negative reviews of the food, with many saying that it was simply superb. This was especially the case or the evening meals at Bacchus Restaurant, which was said to have a wonderful atmosphere.

While some didn't like the distance to Fuchal, others found the hotel's quiet neighbourhood to be just what they were looking for to enjoy a quiet and serene holiday.

Some did like the remote location due to the serenity that resulted, but many others felt that it was just a bit too far from Funchal's town centre and that there was not much to do in the immediate vicinity. There was a shuttle to town supplied, but some found fitting in with its schedule to be awkward.

A couple of guests mentioned that the décor looked just a little tired. In their mind it just needed a bit of a refresh in places to get back up to speed.

Several guests were very disappointed, and somewhat surprised, to find that the hotel's Wi-Fi only worked around the reception area. They felt that in a hotel of this standard in-room Wi-Fi should be a given.
