About Popcorn Busan Station

Formerly the Denver and Rio Grande railroad line was built to haul gold and silver ore out of the mine in the San Juan Mountains. It was built between 1881 and 1882. It has run continuously since 1881. It is one of the only lines that have run continuous service from steam locomotives. Now it is a heritage and tourist line operated by the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It is an operation of 45 miles (72 km) in length running on 36 inch (914 mm) track width. During the winter months the train runs from Durango to the Cascade Wye. During the summer months the train runs from Durango to Silverton. During the winter the train departs at 10:00 a.m. returning at 3:00 p.m. Cost is $45 for adults and $22 for children 5-12 years of age. For those 21 years and above it is possible to book passage on the First Class Parlor Car for $89. Summer tickets are $65 for adults and $35 for children. It is possible to take either the train or a bus in one direction for slightly higher rate. Please check the official web page for more details on this option.
