Hotel Plaza Opéra (Paris, France)

Though not right in the tourist heartland, this was what guests liked most about the Plaza Opera. It certainly isn't far fro Les Halles and the Louvre, a bit over a mile, but the guests seemed to like being in an area that had at least a bit of a local feel to it.

The great service guests received from the hotel's staff was mentioned again and again. They described staff members who were both friendly and also very knowledgeable and informative, giving them some top local tips.

Surprisingly perhaps for a hotel in central Paris, where rooms are of course very expensive, several guests still mentioned that they felt they received excellent value for money. It seems that other options they looked at of the same standard cost a bit more.

As with almost every Haussmann-era building in central Paris, the hotel's lift is described as exceptionally small. At most two people, without luggage, could fit in. Claustrophobic guests should be prepared to take the stairs.

It was hard to find anything good written about the hotel's breakfast. Most described it as somehow both insubstantial and expensive, and suggested that others simply take their breakfast at a nearby café.

Another Paris cliché perhaps, but many guests do report that the rooms were very small indeed - for the standard rooms, pretty much as small as possible without placing the bed vertically.
