Situated just a short distance from Kos, the Hotel Platanista Hotel offers guests the modern accommodation and extensive resort facilities ideal for a self contained break in the sun.
The rooms are sleek and modern, with cool tile on the floor, and feature private balconies, air conditioning, minibars, blackout curtains, work desks, telephones, flat screen TV’s with satellite channels and hair dryers.
Hotel Platanista has terrific resort style facilities, including an enormous pool terrace, tennis court, mini-golf, mini-soccer, volleyball and table tennis. There is also a wellness zone with sauna, Jacuzzi, hamman and spa treatments available. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
A buffet breakfast is served every morning, and there is also a restaurant serving Greek and international dishes for the other meals. Many guests prefer to relax poolside during the day where they can order drinks and light meals from the bar.
Hotel Platanista is just two miles down the coast from Kos and its marina.
While reviews were inevitably mixed, the majority clearly thought very highly of the food offered in the hotel's restaurant, and also out on its pool terrace. Despite most guests being in the hotel for at least a week, there were not a lot of reports of people getting sick of the food.
positive:
Enough sun beds for all
Surprisingly, several guests went out of their way to report that they never seemed to have trouble finding a sun bed round the pool when they wanted to laze about. Also, nobody spoke of friction as a result of others “reserving” sun beds through various complicated towel placements.
positive:
Easy to get to Kos
While most guests seemed to spend the bulk of their time at the resort, a few did mention that when they wanted to go to Kos it was not much of a problem. It was either a long walk, or a quick taxi or bus journey away.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Cats everywhere
It was mentioned a couple of times that there are a very large number of seemingly feral cats on Kos, and the hotel has a few that seem to stalk its gardens. While they never seemed to bother most guests, both cat lovers and others who may be affected or upset by seeing feral cats should take note.
negative:
Not many English channels on TV
Guests specifically mentioned that there were only two English language TV stations available. Considering the very large number of English speaking guests at the hotel, this seemed a little peculiar, and they simply wished there were more channels available.
negative:
Nearby beaches not that great
While there is an accessible beach just 200 yards away, it is described as full of pebbles, and not the most attractive beach the guests had ever seen.
