Situated just a couple of minutes walk from Rome’s main Termini Station, Hotel Planet Hotel offers clean and basic accommodation to budget conscious travellers looking to be in the very heart of Rome. The rooms are simply furnished, with cooling tile on the floors, and feature en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, flat screen TV’s with satellite channels, in-room safes, work desks and telephones. Reception is open limited hours and can assist with tours, transfers and local knowledge. Wi-Fi, for an extra charge, is available throughout the property. A very basic breakfast is available at a bar just outside, but for proper meals the reception staff will be more than happy to offer you their best local dining recommendations. Hotel Planet Hotel is in a very central position. The city’s famous Trevi Fountain is just 1.2 miles away, while the Vatican, with St Peters Basilica and incredible museums, is 2.8 miles to the west, and easily reached by public transport.
The hotel is situated extremely close to Termini Station. Since most of the guests were travelling on something of a budget, this location was ideal. It meant that they had no expensive taxi, or complicated public transport route, to deal with when arriving in Rome. Also, the location is well within walking distance of most of Rome's central attractions.
Considering the many faults guests seemed to find with Planet Hotel, they were simply relived that the air conditioning actually worked as it should, and they didn't need to endure a sweltering night.
It would not be true to say most guests considered Planet good value. However, many did say that the room-rate they received was exceptionally low, and this hotel may suit guests who are just looking for a place to crash for as little money as possible.
While most guests do not seem to have breakfast included in their room-rate, the one's who did had nothing at all good to say about it. It was described as insufficient, something like the proverbial “coffee and croissant” …without the coffee.
An incredible number of guests mentioned booking at Planet Rome, but on arrival being told either that the hotel never received their booking, or given some unlikely reason why they have no room available, before being sent to another hotel. To put it bluntly, guests believe these are all lies, and they simply chronically overbook.
Guests mentioned that Wi-Fi was not free, and that the daily charge was a little steep. Clearly, most did not appreciate having to pay for Wi-Fi, reasoning that since connectivity was such a feature of life nowadays that it should have been included in the room-rate.
