Hotel Piazza di Spagna (Rome, Italy)

Guests mentioned that the hotel was not misnaming itself by calling itself Piazza di Spagna, since that famous square really was just a minute or two away on foot. But they describe the area as having much more than just the steps, with all the shopping and café culture for which Rome is known.

It seems guests were not expecting much when it came to the breakfast, thinking perhaps that it would consist of the proverbial “coffee and croissant”. In the end they were pleasantly surprised, saying it consisted of a good variety of both sweet and savoury foods.

It was nigh impossible to find a harsh word written against any staff member, a most unusual state of affairs. On the contrary, guests described them as unfailingly friendly and helpful.

While  the hotel is indeed descried as being on a quieter side street, leading to less noise for most, those with rooms facing the rear alley said that they could be disturbed both by people  rummaging through the dumpsters, and in the early mornings when the rubbish is collected. There was also a restaurant in the area which was said to be quite loud.

While most accepted that they were in the very heart of Rome, and rooms were bound to be small, others were not so understanding. They felt that the standard rooms were too small for the room-rate and star rating of the hotel.

While perhaps not as bad as most hotels, there were still quite a few complaints concerning the Wi-Fi, with guests saying it really wasn't very reliable.
