You don’t really notice the lack of a hotel restaurant. Just step outside and there’s lots of choice. Maybe start at the bar across the road, or Bar Alfalfa is only a couple of minutes walk. There’s a supermarket nearby for snacks and essentials and restaurants around to suite all tastes and budgets.

In this, one of the very hottest regions of mainland Spain, thank goodness the hotel has invested in very effective air conditioning. Brilliant, in fact. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable… and made even more appealing via that air con factor.

Once you’ve found the hotel, the public car park is a 20 minute walk away and expensive. In the hotel, too, extras such as breakfast are expensive and likely to dampen your appetite.

If you are unfortunate enough to arrive by car, your ‘sat nav’ will probably blow a fuse when faced with this web of narrow streets. Finding the hotel is a bit like a reality board game.

The best way to see the city is on foot. Only use transport if essential and avoiding the not very good tourist bus is a good idea!
