The Penny Farthing Hotel & Cottages are situated in Lyndhurst Village, just off the main street. It’s set in the heart of town, yet close to New Forest National Park. The hotel is set within two converted Victorian houses and each room is a different size. All have en suite bathrooms, television, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi. Lyndhurst village offers a range of charming shops, pubs and restaurants to eat in. Visitors find the owners of these premises are very friendly and welcoming. For those visiting the New Forest, it is just a stone’s thrown from the accommodation and a wealth of other attractions are a short drive away.
The full English breakfast served here gets the thumbs up from guests. It is well cooked, generous and sets guests up for the day. Continental style fare of cereals and fruit is also available.
Staff are very helpful and treat every one of their guests individually. They’ll help with any issues and provide recommendations of places to visit in the locality. Those serving breakfast provide it with good cheer and smiles.
One drawback to the hotel’s location just off the high street is that the traffic noise can penetrate the accommodation and prevent a good night’s sleep.
The dining area could do with somewhat of an upgrade and some of the rooms as well are looking a little worn here and there. The Wi-Fi signal is poor and guests felt the lack of complimentary toiletries in their bathrooms.
The two Victorian houses which form the hotel have been renovated and restored over the years, so that each room has its own unique properties and scale. Some rooms are bigger than others. A few visitors found these rooms a little too compact for their liking and found it difficult to manoeuvre within them.
