Hotel Pearl Grand (Colombo, Sri Lanka)

Generally, guests were pleased with the size of their rooms. They said it contained all the necessary furniture and that it contained the right, functional amenities including an air conditioner and an en-suite bathroom.

The hotel food offers lots of vegetarian options. The buffet breakfast received mixed reviews as the dishes skewed more towards local tastes than for Western travellers. Some people enjoyed the Sri Lankan dishes and liked that it strayed away from the usual breakfast fares you see at international hotels.

The rooftop bar and swimming pool area offer a great view of the city. If you want an even better view, request a room in the higher floors. A room higher up will also locate you closer to the pool and gym.

There have been complaints about unclean conditions and strange smells in the hotel rooms. They said that the rooms looked messy and that housekeeping didn't seem to clean it everyday. Some visitors complained that the hallways reeked of cigarette smell although it's supposed to be a non-smoking hotel.

Some of the room furniture have fallen into a sad state. Guests noted a lot of wear and tear in the room that may have been new a few decades ago, but now needed better care.

Some tourists thought that the location of this hotel was too far away from the main attractions. They also thought that the Pearl Grand was more oriented towards local clientele rather than international visitors.
