Positive Reviews

positive:

Unbeatable central location

This is by far the aspect that most impressed guests. The location is simply described as “perfect”, for both sightseeing and transportation. All the sights of the Old Town were within easy walking distance.

positive:

Really good value

Guests who mentioned value for money were overwhelmingly likely to say that they received excellent value at Oportohouse. Some could barely believe their luck in securing a clean, comfortable and stylish room right in the centre for the room-rate they paid.

positive:

Lovely staff

The staff at the hotel were universally described as genuinely friendly and willing to help in any reasonable way they could. Their English language skills were also rated quite highly.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Credit card payments not accepted on-site

Like many smaller establishments Oportohouse does not seem to accept credit cards for settling the bill on-site. Many guests didn't like this one bit, since it meant the inconvenience of withdrawing relatively large sums of cash from a bank machine. There was also, of course, the danger of carrying the cash around on their person.

negative:

Very loud stairs

Quite a number of people complained about noise from the, admittedly lovely, staircase. Guests mentioned that they heard the voices of people chatting when climbing back up to their rooms, and that the stairs themselves were quite creaky.

negative:

Attic rooms a bit uncomfortable

It seems guest in the attic rooms were somewhat unhappy with being allocated there. The roofs slope, and many guests, even those not particularly tall, felt they might inadvertently bump their head at any time. Tall guest, especially, are advised to request a room lower down.
