Positive Reviews

positive:

Quiet location

Several guests mentioned that, despite the hotel's relatively central position, and the proximity of a nearby highway, they really weren't disturbed at night by any noise from outside. Some thought that perhaps the location, a bit outside the very centre, helped avoid the disturbances from revellers passing by.

positive:

Great “Central European” atmosphere

While most guests didn't specifically state that they felt the atmosphere at the hotel was Central European, they repeatedly mentioned that the lovely old building and classical décor made a unique impression on them. They felt a bit different than they would have at an old hotel in Paris or Amsterdam, and certainly very different to what they would have felt at an “international” chain hotel.

positive:

Rooms are fairly spacious

Guests who mentioned room size overwhelmingly felt that the rooms were a very decent size - more than large enough for their party.

Negative Reviews

negative:

No shower curtains in the bathrooms

Strangely, this complaint came up quite a few times. Guests said that their shower had no curtains or door, or any evidence that these had one been there. As a result, their bathroom floor was flooded every time they took a shower. They found it most perplexing.

negative:

Coffee from a vending machine

While guests conceded this was a fairly minor issue, this was perhaps the point. If deciding to serve coffee in the mornings from a vending-style machine, rather than freshly brewed jugs, was minor, then the hotel should have opted for the later option without even thinking about it. To some, coffee from a vending machine just felt “cheap”.

negative:

Sauna and hot tub not available

Although not often mentioned, a few guests staying at different times commented that the sauna and hot tub were not open when they wanted to use them. It was unclear whether this was because of maintenance issues, or simply that the facilities were open only limited hours.
