With the historic market Town of Brecon less than half-a-mile away and with Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, within easy reach, Old Castle Farm is ideally situated for both active and more sedentary pursuits.

Hikers form a large proportion of the bed and breakfasts guests, and most love the breakfasts served with generous portions of well-cooked, Full Welsh Breakfast on the menu. Others have commented on the efficient service and flexibility; with packed breakfasts available to those who require them.

While the basics are right at Old Castle Farm, the most commented upon aspects of a stay here are the little things; the free parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, comfortable seating in the lounge with an open fire in Winter and the garden. Several guests have commented that it is clearly a well-loved family business.

While some love the old-fashioned charm of the building and décor, others feel that it looks dated and could benefit from a refresh. A modern interior would, undoubtedly, look out of place in the grade two listed building, but some feel that an update would go a long way.

There is private parking available, yet some have had difficulties finding it and have suggested that spaces are too slim for larger vehicles. Others have commented upon the steep nature of the staircases, so the premises may not be accessible to all.

The guest house is situated on a busy road and, while those staying at the rear of the building may go unaffected, if your room is at the front, you may experience some level of noise disturbance.
