Situated in the heart of the little town of Chippenham, Neeld Arms is a gorgeous 17th century stone country inn, and offers comfortable accommodation and hearty fare to weary travellers. The six individually designed rooms are full of unique character and style. Each features en suite bathroom, TV, tea/coffee station and clock radio. The Neeld Arms is a pub with good rooms available and as such does not have many public facilities. Staff on hand in the pub will be happy to provide local information…and refreshment. The Neeld Arms is a pub popular with guests and locals alike. It is a renovated modern space and serves drinks on tap and hearty fare made form locally sourced ingredients. The Neeld Arms is not far from the M4’s junction 17. Much of Wiltshire is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, and there are many wonderful walks and drives in the surrounding hills.
Guests seem to indicate that the Neeld Arms is very much a pub with rooms above than the other way round. The pub was said to have a great atmosphere, and provide solid meals that were tasty and well prepared, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
While it seems most of the staff split their duties between the pub and the rooms, guests found that they were very welcoming, and when tracked down were only too happy to offer great local knowledge.
While guests did have one or two small issues with the interior of the building, most said that the outside looked fantastic. The 17th century stone facade has been retained, and guests believed it gave the building a lot of character.
Curiously, there were several guests who had various problems with their showers. They talk of low water pressure, the shower head falling off, flooded bathroom floors and various similar problems, sometimes rather comical. It seems that they may require some significant maintenance to get them back into top shape.
A couple of guests pointed out that the carpets throughout the property, whether in public places or the rooms, were quite frayed. In their view, they definitely needed replacing.
The Neeld Arms is a popular local pub that sometimes has live music, which obviously results in some noise. Those guests not actually the ones making the noise were sometimes kept awake by the more jolly patrons down below.
