The ferry port, from where ferries to Capri can be boarded, is approximately 900 yards from Mignon Hotel. A drive along the Amalfi Coast, one of the most spectacular in the world, should not be missed. It starts about eight miles from the hotel port. The rooms have a certain elegant simplicity about them, and feature private balconies, en-suite bathrooms, hairdryers, air conditioning, LCD TV’s, in room-safes, work desks and telephones. Reception is open 24 hours and can assist with tours, transfers, luggage storage, car and boat hire and basic concierge services. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. A basic continental breakfast is available at the hotel each morning, but for proper meals reception staff will be happy to offer excellent local dining recommendations. The best positive review doesn't even need to mention anything about the property, but simply the fact that the reviewer is coming for the second or third time. Despite Sorrento perhaps not being the sort of destination people return to again and again, there were quite a few guests who said that they had stayed at least once before, and that may be the best endorsements possible.
Though not on the water right by the harbour and ferries, guests liked the location a bit away from the water, saying there were a good many restaurants and other amenities just a very short walk away, and the ferries and train station were simply a 10-minute walk away when they needed them.
Several guests mentioned that some of the rooms overlook a particularly lovely lemon grove. It seemed to them a wonderfully tranquil outlook in what can be a very busy tourist town.
Unfortunately Mignon did not escape the curse of the poor hotel Wi-Fi. Guests speak of the system being very unreliable and frustrating, often logging them out for no apparent reason, necessitating that they physically log in again.
While there was obviously little the hotel could do about it, an extraordinary number of guests mentioned that the taxi drivers in Sorrento are especially likely to try to rip off tourists, demanding simply preposterous fares for very short journeys.
Unfortunately, like many other European hotels, the bathrooms at Mignon were said to have exceptionally small showers. Several guests said they really were too small to comfortably take a proper shower in.
