Very good central location
While not right in downtown Reykjavik, it was nonetheless described as a very central neighbourhood, with restaurants and nightlife aplenty. Guests never felt they needed to travel far to have a good time.

About Miðgarður
Situated in the very heart of Reykjavik, Midgardur Hotel is a modern property offering comfortable accommodation with a distinct Scandinavian style. The rooms are simply furnished, but still somehow elegant. Each features en-suite bathroom, minibar, tea/coffee station, flat screen TV, in-room safe and hairdryer. Reception is open 24 hours and is full service, even including a northern lights wake up option. Wi-Fi is free and accessible throughout the property, while parking can be found in nearby public garages. A simple breakfast buffet, served in the bright dining room, is available every morning. There are a host of great options nearby for the other meals. Reception staff will be happy to offer recommendations. Downtown Reykjavik is about a mile from Midgardur, while its airport is about 1.3 miles away. The absolutely not to be missed Blue Lagoon, with its incredible hot springs, is about 30 miles drive away.

While reviews were somewhat mixed, most seemed to enjoy the breakfast, saying it offered a decent number of options and was presented well. It seemed to set guests up for the day ahead.

Again and again guests mentioned how wonderful the staff were. For the most part they were said to be not only very welcoming and friendly, but also very efficient and professional in the way they dealt with guest's queries or issues. They had confidence that if they left it with them it would be seen to.

Frosted glass bathroom doors
It seems the Midgardur has opted for the trendy frosted glass bathroom walls and/or doors. This is always a polarising issue, with many people really not liking the lack of privacy it entails.

Noisy construction work
As of the first quarter of 2016 guests were still mentioning construction work going on at an adjacent site. It caused quite a lot of disturbance during the day. Guests could consider checking with the hotel to determine whether it is still going on.

Problems with the showers
Guests mentioned that, due to the design, taking a shower would inevitably flood the whole bathroom floor with water. This in turn would be carried through to the rest of the room, creating a bit of a mess.
