They are equipped with all the modern conveniences, including air conditioning, cable TV, in-room safes and private balconies. The lovely grounds flow directly down to the beach, and incorporate a pool terrace with plenty of sun beds and seating. Free Wi-Fi accessible in the public areas of the hotel.. The open air buffet restaurant serves all three meals and flows directly out onto the beach. Beach BBQ’s with live entertainment are held regularly throughout the year. There is also a pool bar for thirsty guests. A great variety of waterspsorts are available at Hotel Merrils Beach Resort II, including sea kayaking, scuba diving, parasailing and much more besides.
The resort is right on the beach, which guests certainly enjoyed. They reported that accessing the endless sands of Seven Mile Beach was a piece of cake, even allowing them to walk barefoot from the resort right out onto the beach.
The overwhelming majority of guests reported finding the resort's staff to be very professional and friendly. There were a number of comments indicating that individual staff members went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that their guests could be accommodated, even in difficult or unusual circumstances.
Considering the fact that the resort operates on an all-inclusive basis, guests were quite happy with the standard of the food offered, saying that it was varied, tasty and plentiful.
Guests were not at all impressed with the alcoholic drinks available on the all-inclusive package. As is often the case with these drinks, they were described as consisting of cheap liquor and mixed very weak, resulting in a great deal of unhappiness amongst thirsty travellers.
Several guests mentioned that, like many popular tourist areas in Jamaica, the area around the resort attracted its share of shady characters. They specifically mentioned being offered drugs of various kinds and hawkers trying too hard to sell their wares on and near the beach
A number of guests who had an urgent need for always-on Wi-Fi were disappointed to discover that, while Wi-Fi was available, it only worked around the reception area and not at all in most of the rooms.
