A modern, four-star hotel with secure private parking, the Mercure Bordeaux Lac is within minutes of the Bordeaux Casino, Parc des Expositions, and the Stade Matmut Atlantique.
The spacious, smoke-free guest rooms feature a flat-screen satellite television, minibar, air conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Nespresso machines and premium bed linen are among the luxurious extras in Privilege rooms. Pets are welcome, for an additional nightly fee.
After a long day of meetings or sight-seeing, guests can cool off in the sunny outdoor pool.
The Mercure Bordeaux Lac offers a hearty breakfast buffet daily, as well as traditional French cuisine and fine Bordelais wines at the restaurant and bar. Room service is also available during the restaurant's opening hours.
Place de la Bourse, Opera de Bordeaux, and the Jardin Public are within four miles of the hotel. Bordeaux Merignac Airport is a 25-minute drive.
Guests generally like the new "literary" look of the guest rooms, describing them as spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Many comment that the hotel (and neighbourhood) is particularly quiet on weekends. The pool area is a nice plus, and guests enjoy bar service on the terrace. The ample free parking is also much appreciated.
positive:
Off to a great start...
The lobby and restaurant have also received the new look, and many enjoy the cosy "library" theme as much as the breakfast buffet, which is widely described as fresh and varied, though not inexpensive.
positive:
Great for business...
Though the hotel is popular with business travellers for its location near several conference centres, guests also find the location reasonably convenient for a bit of sight-seeing: drivers like its position near the Ring Road, which offers a speedy commute into Bordeaux city centre. A Tram C stop is also just a few minutes away and also offers a direct route. The nearby lake is also pleasant for jogging or walking.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A very refreshing swim...
Guests warn that the pool is unheated, and quickly becomes too cold for some swimmers as the overnight temperatures begin dropping at the end of summer. Some guests have described the front desk and restaurant personnel as professional but a bit "chilly," too.
negative:
Hits and misses in housekeeping...
Though many guests describe the rooms as clean, observant travellers have been troubled by dust, crumbs, and similar oversights. Some guests have also been frustrated by mosquitos getting into their rooms.
negative:
Plan to dine out on Saturday night...
The restaurant is closed on weekends, so room service is also unavailable on those days. The nearby options are largely casual and fast food chains.
