Situated near the sea, and on Tynemouth’s renowned Front Street, Martineau House is an award winning guest house offering sophisticated accommodation to guests who demand the best. There are just four rooms, each of which has been individually furnished and decorated to a very high standard. Each features en-suite bathroom, TV, flat screen TV, iPod dock and tea/coffee station with a host of goodies. The host is usually on hand and can provide excellent local information. The award winning breakfast is made to order, and includes unique recipes and locally caught fish. It is served at the communal dining room table. There are good dining options in town, not limited to fish and chips, and the host will be happy to offer recommendations. Of course the beautiful area beaches are the main attraction. They are mere minutes’ walk away. For family fun and learning, the Blue Reef Aquarium is just a mile to the north.
It was undoubtedly the breakfast that most impressed guests about Martineau House. They simply couldn't stop raving about it. It was described as like no other breakfast that they had ever had at any other guest house or B&B. The host, Sally, uses local ingredients and her own special recipes to create unique and unexpected items that her guests really seemed to love. Some speak about returning just so they can enjoy the breakfasts again.
There are only four rooms at the guest house, and it appears guests in all of them were extraordinarily pleased with what they offered. The views from all four were said to be lovely, and guests really appreciated the care and attention that had clearly gone in to decorating and furnishing them. They felt that they were in a true luxury property.
