Marlborough House stands in an enviable position in the centre of the historic city of Norwich. There are 17 bedrooms in total and all boast freeview televisions and tea and coffee making facilities. The guesthouse benefits from an excellent location in close proximity to Norwich City Football Club and the city centre with its many shops, bars and restaurants. Parking is available next to the accommodation for those arriving by car and it is also just a short walk to the train station.
Rooms have recently been refurbished and are decorated to a high standard in neutral tones. The beds are comfortable and even the showers have received compliments from previous guests.
The owners make excellent hosts and are friendly, welcoming and approachable. They have extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and are able to make recommendations on days out and places to eat. The rooms are kept very clean. The breakfast in particular gets lots of praise for being an excellent quality English breakfast with continental choices also available.
Although guests have liked the location of the guesthouse and have complimented the décor inside, the accommodation lacks kerb appeal and more could be done to tidy it up from the outside and make it more presentable.
Some guests have been affronted by the lack of complimentary toiletries provided and feel that this is an area which could be improved upon as it is something they would normally expect.
Although the vast majority of previous guests were happy with their stay and found the staff to be very friendly, there were some who found that the reception staff in particular were not very welcoming.
