The interior of the hotel has retained many of the original period features such as a galleried Victorian staircase and open fire places. Guests complimented the unique style of the decor including the antique furniture and the elegant drapes on the dining room windows.
Many guests objected to the fact that the evening meal is only served until 7:30 pm when the kitchen closes. Those who spent the day sight- seeing objected to having to rush back to the hotel in order to get there in time for their evening meal.
The hotel is described as pet-friendly, yet quite a few guests objected to dogs being allowed to roam freely in the bar as well as the resident cats which can also be seen in the bar and the reception area.
