Hotel Médano (El Médano, Spain)

Hotel Medano is right on top of the ocean so if you’re an ocean lover you will love this location. Fall asleep to the sounds of the waves and wake up for a swim. Not to mention the sea-view balconies that are reportedly worth the extra charge. The larger public terraces are also great to lounge, do yoga, or watch the sunrise with the ocean as your backdrop.

Many guests have said they’ve been back to Hotel Medano multiple times for it’s relaxing small town charm. It’s in the center of town but there is no hustle and bustle or drunk, wild vacationers. It’s a place of pure relaxation and a slower lifestyle.

Those that have stayed at the hotel have coined the staff as genuine and friendly. From being greeted by a big smile to being offered a free bottle of champagne to celebrate your birthday in style the staff is very hospitable.

Some guests said that despite the beautiful ocean view they were disappointed with how outdated the hotel was. There were even a couple comparisons to a youth hostel. The decor was like a blast from the past and the amenities provided are very basic. There were also a couple complaints that the place smelled a bit old but nothing some renovation couldn’t fix.

The food offered at El Medano is definitely not for those who like to be wined and dined. Most people just wished there was more variety in food choice or possibly a bit more of the fresh local food, especially considering the seaside location.

A couple people have said they got very lost trying to find the entrance when driving to El Medano. However, they soon found out there is no direct access for vehicles to the hotel. This made for some confused guests and late arrivals. It was also an annoyance to those carrying heavy luggage, as they had to walk quite a bit with their belonging before arriving to the hotel.
