The owners are delightful, welcoming and eager to advise on places and restaurants to visit in the area. The full cooked breakfast here is included in the tariff and delicious.

It's small wonder that cycling is so popular here. Everywhere is so peaceful, quiet and moderately flat. Roads tend not to be busy but there are also endless countryside lanes to explore. They welcome long and short stays, so ideal for contractors and other workers.

Isn't it nice, just sometimes, not to have to tolerate someone else's noisy and unruly kids? It's a good policy here because a good part of the attraction is the peace and quiet element. Sorry, but this would go out of the window with a crash if kids were part of the equation.

As a chalet dweller, you've got more independence although the accommodation is somewhat lacking. Beds are hard and uncomfortable and the water pressure for the shower is abysmal. The first floor rooms have drawbacks too. The main one being that they aren't en-suite and the shared facilities aren't really adequate for the number of rooms.

The TV screen is tiny and must be bad for the eyesight. The fact that TV reception is poor doesn't help the situation one bit.

Accommodation, generally, is quite drab. This isn't improved when you find articles from the previous room occupant still in the room and obviously overlooked when the room was cleaned.  Decoration is poor with different colour paint daubed on walls. Complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and iron … all are missing!
