In 1989, the 5-star Les Fermes de Marie began paving the way for a new genre of hotel management, and a style that has since then become a yardstick throughout the world. With its strong link to traditional housing, this completely new concept offers a clientele from within and outside France the chance to enjoy a particular mountain lifestyle, winter and summer alike, and to spend a holiday in a high quality, comfortable, family-oriented setting. The hotel is laid out as a small hamlet of high mountain pasture farms several centuries old, lying in a 2-hectare park at the heart of Megève. The nine interlinked chalets form a real haven. Each of the farms was dismantled, and every piece of wood was numbered, then reassembled on concrete frames in line with heritage and traditions. In this timeless retreat away from it all, the charm of the decoration is only equalled by the soul of every piece of furniture and the patina of every object. The comfort of the 70 highly individual bedrooms and suites is based on traditional simplicity and subtle refinement, but incorporates modern life as well. The warmth of the old wood is matched by that of an attentive and ever-personal welcome. The impeccable quality and range of services on offer mark the personality of a hotel like no other. Here the notion of service takes on its full meaning. The bar is elegant, comfortable and extremely cosy, with its deep armchairs and huge sofas covered in leather and Bonneval cloth. Warm materials and muted grey and tobacco shades all blend admirably with the atmosphere and colours that give the place its character. Combining harmony and calm, Les Fermes de Marie offers a special menu for those who work up a little appetite in the afternoon. It guarantees all the pleasures of a restaurant, even between meals. The traditional restaurant at the heart of the chalet offers refined local dishes for all seasons. The new Alpine Restaurant, redesigned in a contemporary style with humorous touches spotlighting the cow, offers a wide variety of delicious dishes. The local cheese specialities are always welcome, but do not provide the only choice. The restaurant is now more spacious and has a rotisserie, so it can offer a fresh and varied menu with plenty of cheeses and mouthwatering desserts. The Spa is the very first of the Pure Altitude Spas. Its swimming pools and the 16 treatment cabins provide voluptuous après ski care, and special well-being stays can be organised at the Fermes.
