Hotel Le Papillon Bed & Breakfast (Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada)

The main strip is only two blocks away, along with plenty of restaurants, shops, and all three Shaw Theaters. Even though it's very central, the closest surrounding area is quiet enough for a good night's rest. A tasty, hearty breakfast is served every morning in the screened porch area just aside the gorgeous and meticulously-tended garden. The hosts prepare high quality eggs and meat dishes, custard and fresh fruits, locally-made sausage and there's always a pot of excellent coffee going around. The hosts' family dogs are friendly and well-behaved.

Rooms are clean with beautifully-arranged decor including comfortable beds and some very charming pieces of antique furniture. You'll find complimentary bottled water in the fridge and the Wi-Fi should work well. Windows are large and some rooms have bay windows overlooking the gardens. Housekeeping is done promptly each morning after you head out for the day so you don't have to ask.

The hosts are a delight, very friendly, welcoming and courteous without being overbearing or intrusive. They'll likely ask you for any nutritional needs or allergies you have before preparing you an amazing breakfast with all special diets considered.

You might hear your neighbors through the walls as they are a bit thin - wear earplugs. If your room is near the kitchen, you may hear the breakfast preparation in the morning.

If breakfast gets repetitive or heavy, ask for something specific or for lighter fare in advance if you'd prefer. Also, it does seem a bit formal with everyone eating together in the dining room, so be dressed before you go in (no eating in your pajamas.)

Some may miss having a television in their room. Bring your own lotion and/or shower cap.
