Situated in the heart of Port Douglas, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the beach, Le Cher Du Monde is a villa style property offering simple self catering accommodation to independent travellers. The apartments are fairly basic in terms of furniture and décor, but still have all you’ll need for an independent holiday up north, including fully equipped kitchens and lifesaving air conditioning The inner courtyard serves as the focal point of the complex, and is a great place to relax in the sunshine or take a dip in the sparkling pool. Free undercover parking and laundry facilities area available. Those not self catering will find plenty of great cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets. Four Mile Beach is perhaps the star area attraction, but those wanting to get out onto the ocean, and to the Great Barrier Reef, should head to the Reef Marina, just 500 yards from Le Cher Du Monde.
Guests had only good things to say about the host, Rob. He was not only described as welcoming and friendly, arguably traits expected in the hospitality industry, but also an all round good guy, who clearly took an interest in the well being of his guests and made sure that they had all they needed for a great stay.
It seems that all guests were in Port Douglas either for the beach or the Great Barrier Reef, or perhaps more likely both. They felt strongly that the apartments were very well located for these purposes being just a short walk from both the departure point for Great Barrier Reef cruises and the gorgeous Four Mile Beach.
Too many guests to mention were tickled pink by the fact that they had a king size bed in their room. They had clearly been expecting the more typical Queen size beds and were happy with the sense of luxury and opulence that the larger bed created.
It was mentioned that the building is three stories high (including garage) and has no lift. Those with mobility issues will have to be careful to make sure they have been allocated a ground floor unit.
Guests in rooms that fronted directly onto Grant Street reported that they could quite easily hear the sound of cars passing by, which some found disturbing.
So far, no recent negative opinion has been expressed by guests about this hotel.
