A former Duke’s residence built in 1597, Hotel Las Casas de la Judería is made up of 27 houses from Seveill’s old Jewish courter that are connected by a labyrinth of courtyards and passageways. There are five category of rooms types offered and some guests found their rooms to be very small. Some guests complained of unsavoury smells coming from the bathroom drainage system, while others found the smell in their rooms to be musty and some furnishings were spotted with mould. The rooms were not always properly cleaned, the period furnishings were also reported to be uncomfortable and the mattresses lumpy and unpleasant to sleep on.
Wi-Fi access is only available in the lobby. Some guests felt frustrated by this limitation, while others also complained that the Wi-Fi connection was poor.
The hotel is located in a centuries old Santa Cruz neighborhood. All areas of the hotel are beautifully decorated and attention to detail is paid which creates an atmosphere of character and charm. Many guests also enjoyed the unique layout of the area and the adventure of walking though the labyrinth of passages to their room. There is also a rooftop terrace with a swimming pool which guests enjoyed in the summer months.
