Set in the very heart of vibrant Chinatown, Lantern Hotel is a unique and very trendy property offering simple, buy comfortable, accommodation. In contrast to the facade and some of the pubic areas, the rooms are very simple. They might even be called minimalist. They nevertheless still feature all the amenities you’ll need for an exciting city break, including much needed air conditioning. The public areas are very trendy and include a chill out terrace, where you can meet fellow travellers from around the world. Reception staff are on duty 24 hours and are ready to assist. The Lantern Hotel Café is perched on a terrace looking down on Chinatown’s Petaling Street and serves breakfast every morning and then drinks later in the day. The surrounding streets and alleys of Chinatown hold much of interest, but those seeking to see KL from above will find the Petronas Towers less than two miles from Lantern Hotel.
This was by far what guests most appreciated about the hotel. It was described as being right smack bang in the middle of Chinatown, with all of its many amenities and attractions nearby. Guests liked the location for many reasons, with the easy availability of great dining and the proximity of the station to the popular Batu Caves two that were often mentioned.
Many guests commented that the style of the hotel, both the facade and the interior, was nothing if not unique. It seemed to make them look up and take notice, and although not all liked what they saw, they agreed that they were definitely not staying somewhere that was bland.
Pretty much all guests who brought up the question of value for money felt that they had received excellent value. Low room rates and the great central location where the most commonly cited reasons.
Many guests felt that the rooms themselves seemed to let the hotel down a little. While some complained that they were simply too small, others didn't really care for the décor, which was said to be extremely basic and not to everyone's taste.
