Hotel Lanna Samui is a modern resort that offers apartment-style units that has a spa, tennis courts and other luxurious amenities. The beach is just five minutes away. The 77 units range from studios to the extra-large penthouse that is decorated in chic, solid teak furnishing. The units come with a flat screen TV, hairdryer, robes and a mini-bar. It’s easy to stay active at Hotel Lanna Samui with a fully-equipped gym and an oversized swimming pool. There are hydrotherapy beds to relax and a children’s pool. Thai meets Mediterranean food at the resort’s Vanilla Restaurant. The food is locally sourced and the wine list is extensive. Guests can also order room service. The resort is located in the busting village of Bagrak on the island of Koh Samui. The hotel is within walking distance to cafes, shops and bars. Chaweng is about 10 minutes away. The resort offers shuttles to the Samui Airport.
The hotel has clearly put itself on the leading edge in terms of design. Both the rooms and public areas are very sleek and modern, with guests overwhelmingly approving of the design. They seemed to feel as if they were in a very chic and stylish boutique hotel, which they were.
A surprising number of guests mentioned how good the hotel smelled. Some described the aroma as lemongrass, others as something else, but whatever it was guest felt that the hotel had selected excellent aromas and almost created an aromatherapy studio in the hotel itself.
While some did have an issue with the pricing, pretty much all guests felt the food and drink on offer was simply the best imaginable. Guests after guest waxed lyrical about the food coming out of the kitchen and the delicious cocktails prepared at the bar.
This was perhaps the most common complaint. Guests did realise that they were in a luxury hotel, and expected things to cost a bit more. Many felt, however, that the prices of small incidental items like water, and larger items like meals in the restaurant, were priced so much higher than the average on Koh Samui that it was clear the hotel was taking advantage of its guests.
While only about 600 yards from the beach, some guests simply pointed out that it wasn't really a beach hotel. The focus was more on the grounds of the resort themselves. Those looking for a luxury beach holiday may have better options elsewhere.
Several guests complained that the hotel's airport shuttle runs infrequently, and that a taxi on that route was exceptionally expensive.
