When you want to be near the Fort Lauderdale beach and other shore activities, and also stick to a budget, this is the place to stay. It's close to public transit, and a taxi is only about a half an hour ride from the airport.

Lafayette Motel staff are lovely people, readily available for whatever you need, and always welcoming with a smile and polite small talk. They're a great resource for making the most of your vacation, and finding out what the best attractions and events are to see and go to.

Little things like parking are a big deal for most travelers, and there's no problem here finding a space. There's plenty of room in the parking lot, so you can easily get a space at check-in, and whenever you return from sightseeing.

Although the motel doesn't advertise as luxury, and the rates are very reasonable, the conditions are still too low even for the pricing. A lot is run down, tattered, stained, and out of date, and housekeeping often fails.

The bathroom ceiling tiles are a concern for many, as they seem very likely to fall out. There are cracks and other noticeable signs of repair needed, and guests don't feel entirely comfortable using the shower because of the overhead conditions.

Noise comes through from the parking lot and the road, as well as from the other rooms. Tobacco smoke also easily wafts through, so be aware of that if you're sensitive to the smells.
