The hotel is on the old side, but comfortable and clean. Easy check in. There's no problem if bringing a well behaved pet. Everything works + there are masses of hot water for luxuriating in the shower. Plenty of dog-walking fields outside. Breakfast is fairly standard, but OK.
The hotel is conveniently located and in an area which appears to be safe and quiet. Later dining options include Cracker Barrel - an easy walk away. Gas stations and convenience stores are also nearby. *There's lots of family fun to be had at Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park.
There's a great welcome, complete with hot cookies. Hot coffee is on tap all day. All in all, the hotel offers attractive free extras and within a budget type tariff. It wouldn't be the same without the staff, though. They make the stay a real success and do everything possible to ensure that you are happy and content.
Some seem to have a chip on their shoulder, which doesn't go down well with guests. Pity, because other staff members are exemplary.
Rooms stink of mildew and they've given up on the problem of mold - electing to just paint over and hope it goes away. (*It doesn't!). Also in the room, bed linen could do with some urgent upgrading.
Creaking floors are a very noisy inconvenience. There are problems flushing the toilet and elderly and infirm potential guests need to be aware that there's no elevator here.
