The Rialto Bridge is approximately a mile from La Locanda di Orsaria, while Venice’s tourist centre, St Mark’s Square, is 1.4 miles away and easily reached by nearby vaporetto.
This seemed to be what most impressed guests about the B&B. Many had, in fact, booked here specifically because it was so close to the train station. While the main tourist sights were good walk away, many seemed to prefer the convenience of a B&B near the station, since it meant not having to struggle through Venice with heavy bags.
Guests really liked the interior design of the B&B. It was said to be very well decorated in a classical Venetian style, that left guest in no doubt as to exactly where in the world they were.
One of the first things guests mentioned in their reviews was that the B&B’s staff were simply a pleasure to deal with. There did not seem to be major language barriers/issues and guests found that staff were incredibly helpful when it came to making sure they had all the information they needed to enjoy their city break.
While mattress firmness is notorious for being a matter of individual preference, there were perhaps too may guests complaining about hard mattresses for it simply to be only a case of individual preference. It seems that the beds really might be too hard for most guests.
A number of guests found the breakfast a bit too basic for their taste, saying that the pastries and coffee wasn’t what they were looking for. They would have preferred a full cooked breakfast.
A surprising number of guests were unhappy that the building, perhaps like most in Venice, did not have a lift. They found it quite difficult to haul themselves and their luggage up and down the steep and narrow stairs.
