Well situated, just a few hundred yards from JR’s Nankai Namba Railway Station, La Kongo is a modern property offering good value accommodation. The rooms are well furnished and equipped with dark colours used to create an evocative atmosphere. They have a flat screen TV, so guests can stay informed and entertained during their stay. Reception and/or security staff are on duty around the clock and can assist with tours, transfers, local information and basic business services. Wi-Fi is available throughout and is free of charge. The onsite restaurant serves both Japanese and Western dishes. Like everywhere else in Japan, the hotel has an incredible array of vending machines onsite. La Kongo is close to much of Osaka’s best shopping, restaurants and nightlife, so you won’t have to worry about travelling far or spending a fortune on taxi fares. Nankai-Namba Station and Namba City Shopping Centre are just 1,000 yards away.
Guests were pretty happy with the location of the hotel. They liked that it wasn’t a very long walk from the nearby JR station and also felt that there was a great selection of restaurants, shops and so on nearby, especially along famous Dotonburi Street.
Considering Wi-Fi is something typically taken for granted by hotel guests, there were an extraordinary number who went out of their way to compliment the hotel for installing a very reliable and fast system, which was said to be accessible anywhere in the building.
Guests were very happy with the service they received from the staff. They found them to be very friendly, and more than wiling to help them out when they had a question or concern.
A bit too many guests for comfort complained that they found the beds a bit uncomfortable. Sagging in the middle and lack of support seemed to be the most common problems, resulting in a stiff back for some.
This was perhaps the most often repeated criticism. Like many hotels in Japan, this one seemed to have exceptionally small rooms. Going by guest comments, it seems that they are about as big as required for the beds and a small pathway around them, and not much more. Guests tended to feel a little claustrophobic.
Though guests did like the general area, some mentioned that the area immediately in front of the hotel was a little seedy, with a number of prostitutes plying their trade, massage parlours and so on.
