Set in the very heart of Matecumbe Key, La Jolla Resort is a charming Art-Deco motel-style property offering a casual ambiance and comfortable accommodation. Units range in size from large rooms to two bedroom suites. They are arranged in low rise buildings set among the lovely gardens and contain everything you’ll need, from flat screen TV’s to hair dryers. The delightful pool terrace is surrounded by a small tropical garden and is the perfect spot to relax on a summer’s day. There is also a guest lounge for when the weather is not cooperating. There are a couple of great dining options within east including Bitton Bistro, a charming place offering highly rated casual fare. The area is of course known for its great fishing, and the staff can set you up with a fishing charter if required. Those who have their own boat can use one of the hotel’s slips.
Guests were very impressed with the water based activities available right from the property. The two most often mentioned were fishing, which was said to be especially good in the area, and kayaking. The hotel had its own kayaks and launches.
Guests really liked the look of the property, describing it as having a very charming retro design that evoked the 1950’s. Together with the lovely gardens, this seemed to create a special atmosphere that reminded them of kinder and gentler times.

A number of guests reported that noise was a bit of a problem when trying to sleep at night. Those in units close to the Overseas Highway mentioned that the sound of cars zooming by could easily be heard in the rooms, while quite a few also mentioned that the air conditioning units were especially loud.
Guests reported that the parking was a little tight, with it being quite difficult to manoeuvre into one of the spots. The parking for guest’s boats was said to be especially difficult and often required help from the staff to arrange.
A fair number of guests were at least a little unhappy with the value for money they received. They felt that their room rate was actually quite high and the resort a fairly average one, leading them to question value for money.
