Positive Reviews

positive:

Authentic, but with bonuses

The rooms are decorated to fit with the ambiance of the area in old Quebec and with the historic nature of the home. Guests, though, can still have modern features, like Jacuzzi tubs and king-sized beds. The location is great for those wanting to explore the city's sites and the old port.

positive:

Helpful staff

The staff gives great tips about the area and gives out maps with recommendations of what to do, where to go, and where to eat. These tips save time, especially considering the confusing nature of the surrounding area.

positive:

Delicious homemade breakfasts

While the spread for breakfast isn't a buffet, what is offered is delicious and most of it is freshly made. Having homemade croissants and crepes with fresh fruit will definitely give you a feel for Quebec.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Lacking in luxuries

This is more a basic stay rather than a royal stay in an historic palace. The rooms provide basic features with basic furniture, limited TV channels, and little space for storage of luggage. Overall, the building and rooms are bit run down. Also, there isn't a lift so be prepared to hike the stairs.

negative:

A personal experience

The owners will be your hosts and they have quirky personalities. While some really enjoy the odd sense of humour, others are offended and see the host's comments as rude. The stay will garner the same experience. Either you like quirky and strange, or you would rather have a standard hotel stay with staff that is background noise only.

negative:

Repeat menu

If you're staying for multiple nights, be prepared to eat the same foods day after day. There are no other choices. You'll get bread items, fruit, jams, and juice.
