Kossak is a 4-star design hotel in central Krakow, next to the Vistula River and ten minutes’ walk from the old market square and St Mary’s Basilica. Wawel Royal Castle — of which some rooms have great views — is 800 metres away and the former Jewish quarter of Kazimierz is about 15 minutes’ walk away. Standard rooms come with a minimum of private bathroom with shower or tub, complimentary toiletries and hairdryer, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and wired internet, minibar, room service and tea & coffee supplies. Kossak’s front desk is open 24/7, the hotel has free parking, a gift shop, conference centre, a gym with jacuzzi and spa, and laundry service and airport transfers are available. Buffet breakfasts are served daily, Percheron offers fine cuisine, the top floor Cafe Oranzeria has floor-to-ceiling windows and there is a lobby bar. Krakow central station is 2.2 kilometres away.
Guests staying at Kossak were regularly impressed by the large choice of fare on offer in the breakfast buffet, which included cold fare and cooked-to-order eggs and pancakes. The rooftop bar/restaurant also impressed, with fantastic views out over the city.
The hotel’s location puts you in a very easy spot to explore the city, with Wawel Castle and the old town market within ten minutes’ walk, Kazimierz not much further and the rest of the city easily explorable with one of the hotel’s free bikes or the buses which stop across the road.
You will find the hotel staff to be very helpful, with nothing appearing to be too much trouble, while the reception staff proved to be very informative when faced with city queries.
The only small issues guests occasionally mentioned were the pillows, which a few found not to be to their liking, and the availability of parking, which again, only a small number found to be an problem.
