Positive Reviews

positive:

Exceptional food.

This is a dining experience to savour for a long time to come.  Try the lunch as well. Very reasonably priced and the quality is exceptional. Breakfast, too; Scottish style - is little short of sensational. So, all good on the food front!

positive:

Inviting rooms.

Rooms are well decorated and furnished. Beds too, are very comfortable. Towels are verging on the luxurious and there's a nice selection of toiletries in the en-suite. Heating takes some time to build up though, but when it kicks in, everything is fine. There's plenty of space and the en-suite areas in particular seem to be brand spanking new!

positive:

Friendly staff.

Staff members are friendly and helpful. Service can be ‘wobbly' when dining, but nothing catastrophic.

Negative Reviews

negative:

What a shower

Poor water pressure means cold showers and baths. The problem seems to extend to the iffy and inefficient heating system. Initially, rooms are cold.

negative:

A frosty Reception.

The reception area is very cold and not in keeping with the promised ‘warm' welcome. Not surprising, then, there's no-one to greet you on arrival - too cold. Pity that things get off on the wrong foot due to lack of heating control. It doesn't get any better in the corridors where the lighting makes these areas very attractive … but only to resident ghosts! There's plenty of parking space though.

negative:

OK … ‘barring' the noise.

Add to the creaking floorboards, the high level of relentless noise from the bar and you can forget any thoughts of a good night's sleep. It's advisable to request a room as far away from the bar as possible.
