The Hotel Kinloch Arms is a two-star rated inn with guest accommodation. It is close to the golf courses at Panmure and Carnoustie, itself. Rooms, some of which are refurbished, are en-suite. They contain Sky TV and all the modern day conveniences expected by today’s hotel guest. Pets are welcome at The Kinloch Arms and there are communal facilities for billiards and darts. There is a programme of evening entertainment and the hotel is a popular venue for social gatherings. Free Wi-Fi is throughout the building and free parking is available. Breakfast and later dining, is in the large restaurant and public bar. The Ganges is a popular alternative restaurant. The coast and the championship golf courses are nearby. The railway stations at Carnoustie and Golf Street are also within easy reach of the hotel.
There's a massive upgrading of rooms going on here. Even so and at present, they are large, comfortable, clean ... and a stay here is very cost effective. Breakfast is freshly cooked, well presented and appetising. Breakfast certainly is a further instance of the excellent value here.
Members of staff are, for the main part, very friendly and helpful.
The bar is pleasant and friendly - and obviously a popular haunt for local residents. There are TVs for sports enthusiasts but they are fairly unobtrusive- so sport haters don't feel overwhelmed. The location is such that you can wander out and into the town centre without a problem. Shops, restaurants and railway station are all close by.
When staying in a room in a pub, particularly in this part of the world, you must expect some noise. Combine that noise with the racket going on outside and the noise factor can become unbearable.
When you ask for a clean glass in the bar, rather than the dirty one handed to you ... it isn't good practice to pour the drink from one to the other! Loud voices and bad language are also to be expected in many hotel settings ... but not from the staff!
Water pressure is appalling so trying to take a shower can be impossible. Wi-Fi can be out of action for days on end. The heating clearly is on its last legs, resulting in a cold room and sometimes ...rooms are ‘surface clean' with much evidence of the previous guest's dog.
