The hotel offers an extensive breakfast menu which many guests reported to be fresh and tasty. Favourable reviews were also extended to the restaurant, for both the quality of the food prepared as well as the attentiveness and friendliness exhibited by the staff.

Hotel Kilkenny is well placed to take in the city sites as well as to visit and walk around the nearby countryside. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the centre of town and the Kilkenny Castle. There are also many pubs, restaurants and cafes to visit in the city.

Many guests felt welcomed at the hotel and commented that the staff were friendly, cheerful and sought to deliver a prompt service.

Some guests found the staff to be standoffish, discourteous and lacking in warmth. Some staff members were reportedly rude in their manner, held sour expressions and did not extend words of welcome or any friendly greeting to newly arrived guests. Service was not always prompt, and some guests were left waiting for long periods at reception as well as at the restaurant.

The rooms are advertised as smoke-free, however some guests reported that their room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. Other guests also reported an unpleasant smell but were unable to identify what it was. Complaints were also made about the standard of cleanliness. The bathrooms in particular were not always properly cleaned as evidence from the previous guests remained.

There hotel holds conferences, wedding parties and other special event occasions. Depending on the events booked in, you may have difficulty sleeping as the noise from celebrating guests can be quite loud and the sound proofing is not sufficient to keep the noise at bay.
