Positive Reviews

positive:

Simple accommodations for staying in Portsmouth.

Rooms are basic, but they serve a decent purpose for a short stay. You get a comfy bed, space to store your things, and a nice view of the harbour. If you don't mind that these are low-key accommodations or if you're on a budget, this is a good option.

positive:

Staff are friendly and well versed about the area.

The staff are nice, and happy to talk about the area, its history, and all of the neat little things to see and do. They're also helpful about where to go for dining, entertainment, and other leisure activities, and what they can do for you to make your stay pleasant.

positive:

Convenient location with decent free parking.

You have a lot of Portsmouth history within close proximity to Keppel's Head, including the dockyard with the HMS Victory and the Mary Rose. There's also a lot of shopping, museums, markets, and local attractions. Guests appreciate that despite the inn's location amidst the heart of such significance, parking is still free. Spots are also quite decent, and readily available.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Rooms are in strong need of TLC and makeovers.

The rooms show clear signs of being worn out, with tattered linens and fabrics, peeling paint, stains, and tarnished fixtures. They bear the atmosphere of being stuck decades past, and are in need of refreshening.

negative:

Lift should either not be used at all or replaced.

The lift has definitely seen much better days, and so it's usage is questioned. It makes enough guests uncomfortable that unless it's replaced, it should just be put out of order.

negative:

Breakfast is more like takeaway than freshly made.

The morning meal doesn't always bear the appearance or taste of fresh, made-to-order ingredients. At tines, it seems re-heated, processed, or perhaps taken from somewhere else.
