Kauri Lodge Farmstay is a spacious, self contained holiday apartment or bed & breakfast accommodation situated in the lovely Karapiro farming district, and just a 15 minute drive to both Cambridge and Hobbiton. Our alternative accommodation is the Studio Unit - which is a fully self contained unit, separate from the main Lodge. Both accommodations have beautiful views of surrounding countryside. Your hosts, Libby & Jim, get great pleasure from showing interested guests around the farm and introducing them to our friendly farm animals or giving a ride on one of our quiet horses. Our closest town, beautiful Cambridge, is just a 15 minute drive away. There you will find many lovely restaurants, cafes and takeaways,plus many other attractions. The alternative drive to Cambridge, over the Karapiro Hydro Dam to Lake Karapiro, is well worth while. Lake Karapiro is the home of many water sports, including rowing and kayaking trips to see glow worms An approximate one hour drive takes you to the famous Waitomo Caves, Raglan beach on the west coast, Mt Maunganui on the east coast, or to Rotorua. It is an easy drive to Mystery Creek Event Centre, and the Avantidrome. The city of Hamilton is just another 20 minute drive from Cambridge. The Hamilton Gardens are a very popular tourist location, with free entry and guided tours.
