Kauhale Makai by Maui Condo in Kihei, Hawaii is located a minute's walk from the beach and a two minute walk from Waipuilani Park. The condo complex offers free high speed Internet access and well-equipped kitchens. The air-conditioned condos and studios feature free local calls, flat-screen TVs, living/dining areas and private balconies with ocean views. The condominium with landscaped gardens and palm trees offers guests a pool area with a children's wading pool, a spa tub, an outdoor pool and gas barbecues with picnic tables. There's also free parking, laundry facilities, and a tennis court. The apartment complex is close to several eateries within a short driving distance. Kauhale Makai condo complex is located eight miles from the Maui Ocean Center and less than fifteen miles from Iao Valley State Park.

Many guests were very happy with the apartment complex ideal location and setting near the beach and to open air market. The apartments are also near many shopping choices and beach activities. Guests were happy with the nice and quiet place while still having many choices to spend time.
While not all guests had condos with direct ocean views, those who did were not disappointed with the nice views from their rooms. The waves and palm trees add to the relaxing views from the windows and balconies.
The condominium guests were able to take advantage of the amenities including an outdoor pool with a children's wading pool and BBQ area with picnic tables. Guests could relax and swim and/or cook something while enjoying the nearby ocean.
Some guests were not expecting their rooms to be a bit dated and in need of new furnishings. They found they are used to more furnishings and a décor that is more welcoming in aspect which left some disappointed. One guest mentioned the bathtub as green and from the 70s.
Some guests experienced their air-conditioning to not be working, for plumbing to be clogged with hair, the carpeting needed to be replaced and the kitchen facilities were not clean enough. Some guests had to clean their own rooms as housekeeping is not included.
Some guests who were planning on staying in this complex found that having children was not a positive aspect as their security deposits were increased and the fee per day as well. The rules of the complex are not friendly to children and teenagers who want to play outside, as they are quickly asked to stop their outdoor activities.
