World Heritage-listed Fraser Island showcases some of the best natural attractions that Queensland has to offer and Eurong Beach Resort, on Fraser Island’s eastern side, is a great base from which to explore the world’s largest sand island. Fraser Island is strictly four-wheel-driving territory and 75-Mile Beach is an actual highway that runs up the surf side of the island. Four-wheel-drives share the highway with Air Fraser planes making joy flights, whilst more than 1500 km of sand tracks cross the island link lakes and rainforests. Eurong Beach’s absolute beachfront position on 75-Mile Beach – just an hour’s drive from Hook Point, Wanggoolba Creek and Kingfisher Bay Resort - gives easy access to the island’s eastern attractions. Huge sand blows, coloured sands, the fast-flowing Eli Creek that spills into the ocean, the Maheno shipwreck and Indian Head and the Champagne Pools and all within a short driving distance. The resort is also centrally placed for visits to the southern lakes, which include McKenzie, Basin, Wabby, Jennings, Birrabeen and Boomanjin, as well as the sub-tropical rainforests around Pile Valley, Central Station and Wanggoolba Creek. Eurong is also right on the action for some of the best beach fishing in the world. Surf gutters along then 75-Mile beach provide all-season angling. Whiting and bream are plentiful in warmer months, swallowtail and dart can be caught all year round and all the usual rock species can be caught off the headlands from Indian Head to Waddy Point. The focal point of the resort is a modern complex housing reception and the restaurant and bar overlooking a large free form swimming pool. A buffet restaurant serves hot and cold buffet breakfasts and lunches and themed dinners and the island’s bakery supplies hot bread, casual snacks and coffee. The popular Beach Bar and pool is the centre for entertainment at night. A well-stocked general store supplies groceries; meat, vegetables, souvenirs, resort wear, camping equipment, fishing gear, ice and fuel station making Eurong the one-stop hub on Fraser Island. The resort offers hotel rooms and a number of packages that include ferry transfers, accommodation and meals. Two-bedroom self-contained apartments can accommodate up to six people and have spacious living areas, balconies and bathroom. Double or twin rooms are also available.
