Hotel JJ Residence (Koh Phi Phi, Thailand)

The proximity of the beaches, and to a lesser extent the pier, was what guests most liked about JJ Residence. They found that it took no time at all to stroll to the beach, and when they were done could easily stroll back and quickly hop into a refreshing shower.

The built up areas of Phi Phi are incredibly dense, so a few guests expressed their amazement that the hotel could be so quiet. They seemed to experience no noise from outside to speak of.

Of course Thailand is in the tropics, and it can get very hot and humid. Guests were very happy to find that air conditioning was installed and included in the room rate. They were relived to be able to retreat to their cool room during the heat of the day.

This issue came up a surprising number of times. The island is quite popular with backpackers, and a few guests reported that many of their tattooed members were not exactly their cup of tea. In any event, some said it was possible to get some sort of peace as long as you were prepared to walk to the edge of the beaches.

While guests do mention friendly and helpful staff as well, there were a great many reports of rude and disinterested staff as well. It seems that there are several staff members who do not have the correct attitude to be in the hospitality profession.

It was hard to find a good word spoken about the Wi-Fi. It was described as incredibly unreliable, simply cutting off every now and then, and also too slow when it actually was connected.
