Jerry’s is a cheap and cheerful budget motel in an unbeatable location in downtown LA. It is immensely popular with guests attending events at the Staples Centre and other downtown locations. Rooms are basic, but comfortable, and feature air conditioning, minibar, tea/coffee station, full cable TV and hair dryers. There is also free in-room Wi-Fi. There’s free parking on-site, a great boon in downtown LA. There are no dining facilities on-site, but a daily snack basket is included and there are numerous options in the surrounding area. Jerry’s Motel is close to the major event spaces in downtown LA. Walt Disney Concert Hall is 0.9 miles away, the Staples Centre 1.3 miles and the LA Convention Centre 1.2 miles. Or if coming to town to see the LA Dodgers, Dodger Stadium is just 1.7 miles away.
While all guests agree that the motel is not anywhere close to luxurious, many go on to say that it is the best value they ever experienced in downtown LA. There are many pricey options in the area, and perhaps many dodgy budget ones, but guests are almost unanimously in agreement that the price-performance ration of Jerry Motel is of the charts.
A very large proportion of guests who stay here are attending a major event downtown - perhaps a Lakers game or concert at the Staples Centre, which is a little over a mile away.
Considering the low price and prime location many guests seemed to be expecting the worst when they arrived. They were pleasantly surprised to find a basic, but absolutely spotlessly clean, room with all the furniture intact and accounted for.
While views are a bit mixed, some guests definitely consider the neighbourhood a little too “unsavoury” and felt uncomfortable walking back to the motel at night. But they conceded that an uber back from their event was not very costly.
Due to the budget nature of the motel, and the limited number of staff, some rules are quite strictly enforced. It seems early check-in is only very rarely possible, and leaving luggage there before checking in is not usually possible either. So guests arriving early had to lug their cases around until 3:00 PM.
Guests are often in two minds about complaining about this, but they feel that Jerry's could do at least a little much needed updating of the rooms without breaking the bank and jeopardising the great room rates.
