Hotel Jashita (Tulum, Mexico)

This is a lavish spot beside a serene, clear water bay full of colorful coral with a private beach area. The grounds, lobby and cafe are all kept impeccably clean and well-tended. Get a massage on the beach, float in the virtually wave-less bay water or lounge beside the rooftop pool. There's a variety of water activities available including kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding and be sure not to miss the best part of all - the snorkeling! Most of the equipment is available on-site for rental. This is not an adult-only venue. Children are allowed, but there is a limit, so check with staff at booking if you're bringing little ones along. Breakfast is tasty, high quality and filling, with eggs, fruit, cereals, yogurts and pastries.

Large beds, top notch showers, balconies with breathtaking views and refreshing plunge pools. If you get a chance to go with the Aphrodite Suite or even the regular suites or deluxe rooms - DO IT. Rooftop decks, hammocks, sun beds and private terraces; absolute serenity. Beachfront rooms are definitely worth the additional cost as well.

Helpful, polite staff will assist without being asked and help you decide which room best suits your needs. Friendly and efficient. Breakfast attendants are outstanding as well as the front desk and housekeeping.

You're unlikely to find room flaws here, but there may be occasional trouble with air conditioning or hot water. There are no phones in the rooms and you can't order room service. Other than that, you'll be wowed.

The rates are a little on the expensive side, but you'll probably agree its worth it.

If you dine in at a busy time, they may run out of your favourites.
