Hovima Altamira has both studios and one-bedroom apartments available. Each features en-suite bathroom with bathtub and hairdryer, fully-equipped kitchen, in room safe (fee), satellite TV and private balcony. Most units have sea views. Altamira’s star feature is undoubtedly its massive pool terrace. There are pools for adults and children, and all the sun loungers and other amenities you’d expect are there. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, but free of charge only around reception. There is a buffet restaurant on-site that serves all three meals, and also a pool bar and café around the pool. The beach is just a couple of minutes walk away. There you can indulge in a number of watersports, including parasailing and jet skiing.
The apartments have large balconies and those who stayed in apartments which face the ocean, these featured in positive reviews as a favourite place to sit and relax. These balconies also catch the afternoon sun and many guests like to lounge and tan from the privacy of their balconies each afternoon.
A number of reviewers really liked the location of the hotel which is just up the hill from the beach and a short walk to restaurants and bars in the area. The hotel is also away from the hustle and bustle of Las Americas and offers a peaceful setting to relax and unwind.
The resort has two pools that are well maintained and have ample space for guests to laze about in the sun and this for most previous visitors was the highlight of their stay.
Some guests who expected and were assured that their rooms would be turned over daily, were disappointed that their rooms would sometimes go untouched for days by housekeeping staff and they would have to request cleaning as if it were an additional service provided by the hotel.
There is no air-conditioning in the apartments and for a number of guests this did not make their stay very pleasant as there was no respite from the heat of the day and these guests had trouble sleeping at night. A number of guests also commented that the provided ceiling fans did not provide any relief from the heat.
Some guests had the unfortunate experience of finding a number of creepy crawlies in and around their apartments particularly using bathtubs and other drains as a gateway through the resort. Many negative reviews recounted experiences with some providing a daily head-count of unwanted guests.
