Horizonte is a hostel located in the heart of Es Castell in Spain. The hostel is around a mile from Plaza del Carmen. The 16 air conditioned rooms at the hostel are equipped with satellite TVs. This was by far what guests most appreciated about Hostal Horizonte. Again and again they would mention how astonished they were at the room-rate they received. While they conceded the facilities were basic, the quality of what was offered was so good that they believed they received value for money that could be found nowhere else on the island.
It was hard to find even a single bad word written about the food, except breakfast. Guests said that not only were the meals delicious and substantial, but the prices were set at very reasonable rates in keeping with the budget nature of the hostel. Guests felt well satisfied.
The owner and host received universal praise from his guests, who said that he was a remarkably kind and gentle man, who extended a warm welcome, and went to great lengths to make sure that his guests had everything they needed.
The hostel is between Mahon and Es Castell, and a fairly long walk to both. While it is close to the lovely coastal path, which many guests really enjoyed walking, others felt that they would have been happier in the centre of either Mahon or Es Castell.
While most guests were prepared to accept the basic facilities and rooms in exchange for a great room-rate, not everyone was so understanding. Some guests mentioned that the facilities really were too basic, even for a budget property.
It seems that there is either no air conditioning in the building, or it is not very effective, since there were a few complaints that it was very hot and humid inside in the summer time.
