The decor in the cottages adjacent to the hotel has been described as quite tired with worn carpets and dated furniture. The kitchens were criticised for being very basic and old fashioned, lacking modern appliances.
Some of the guests said that the overall atmosphere in the hotel was rather stiff and formal especially in the dining room where young children are not allowed. The rule inconvenienced some guests who wanted to dine with their children.
